Popular Questions About the Aerial Silks Program

How do I get started?

Take our 1-day intro to Aerial Silks class or enroll in the Beginner Level classes.  Check our weekly class schedule for more info.

I don’t have upper body strength. Can I still take aerial classes?

Yes! Students build strength and coordination as they learn basic techniques.

My child wants to do aerial silks. Is there an age limit for aerial classes?

Ascend Aerial Group classes are geared for students ages 12 and up. Students 12 and under may be evaluated by our instructors for admission to group classes or private aerial lessons. For more info, contact us at ascendaerial@impactkbf.com

Do I have to wear a face mask during aerial class?

All aerial students at Ascend must provide proof of COVID vaccination. Wearing face mask is OPTIONAL during classes.

EMAIL ascendaerial@impactkbf.com or TEXT 650.489.6573 with the participant’s digital COVID vaccine record that you can get here – https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/ or image of your COVID vaccination card

Where are you located?

Ascend Aerial Arts is located at IMPACT! Kickboxing Fitness – 836 Brittan Avenue SAN CARLOS, CA 94070 behind A-3 Tile, across the street from REI San Carlos. GPS sometimes has trouble locating the studio.

Can I just drop-in to any class?

No. Ascend offers 2 types of classes:  Session Enrollment & Drop-In Aerial Classes. We recommend first timers & beginners to take our 1-day intro to aerial silks classes. There are no drop-ins allowed for session classes.

  • Session enrollment means you pay upfront and are guaranteed a spot in the same class each week of the month session because a regular, consistent training regimen is the best way to build strength and stamina as they learn basic skills.
  • Drop-In Classes allows the student to select the dates that they wish to take class.  Only select classes at specific levels on our schedule are classified as drop-in.  Check our weekly class schedule and our 1-day Intro to Aerial Silks schedule which is scheduled monthly on different dates and times.

Schedule a free evaluation

Any aerial students with previous experience or another studio may schedule an evaluation to determine which class level is appropriate.

Do you offer private aerial silks parties?

Yes! Our instructors are available to host your private party. Contact Tammy at tammy@impactkbf.com for pricing and reservations.

What do I wear & not wear for aerial classes?

We will be hanging upside down, so not all clothes are appropriate:

  • Wear tops that are secure, and that can be tucked in
  • Be aware of holes or sheer fabrics near the crotch of pants (this happens more often than you think, so check out your pants/shorts)
  • Wear leggings. Be sure your pants have a secure waist – loose waistbands may get pulled off by the fabrics. DO NOT wear shorts WITHOUT leggings or tights underneath!
  • NO ZIPPERS PLEASE! Wear clothing without metal parts e.g. zippers or belts, as it may cause damage to your equipment-especially in aerial silks. Additionally, they can get stuck and cause injuries.
  • Remove all jewelry. Anything that cannot be removed must be covered with band-aids.

I’m an experienced aerial student and I’d like to join your classes.

All aerial students with previous experience may email us at ascendaerial@impactkbf.com to schedule an evaluation to determine which class level is appropriate.  Video submissions are not accepted.

What if I miss a class?

Ascend Aerial Arts provides makeups for those students currently enrolled in session classes upon submission of the absence form at least 48 hours before the class date/time. Students that purchase drop-ins may CANCEL up to 4 hours before class time to keep credit using the APP or website. Click here for more information
